UCI’s Chin makes history, earns Big West honor

UC Irvine senior Jane Chin has been named Big West Female Golfer of the Month for the month of October.

Chin won all three October tournaments, capturing events in Nipomo, Calif., New Mexico and Hawaii.

She is the first to win three consecutive tournaments in the program’s history.

Chin rewrote the record book at the Kent Youel Invitational in Hawaii, firing a 66 in the second round to match teammate Patty Chawalitmetha for the lowest 18-hole score in school history. At the same event, she registered the school record for 36 holes (134) and 54 holes (203).

Chin is ranked fifth nationally in the Golfweek individual rankings and third in the Golfstat Cup standings, while also leading the Anteaters to a team ranking of No. 25 in the latest Golfstat rankings.
