Julia Ward Stonis went to be with her Lord on Nov. 7, 2008 after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born in Pensacola, FL on Nov. 2, 1933 but soon became a long time native of Mobile, AL where she was raised in the Baptist faith. Julia graduated from Auburn University in Alabama in 1952 then went on and graduated from Auburn School of Pharmacy in 1955. After graduation, Julia worked as a pharmacist for 53 years. She met her husband John Stonis in New Orleans, LA when she stole his parking space and they married in 1959. They moved from Louisiana to California in 1960 and in 1966 were blessed with their daughter Juliana. They remained long-time residents of Newport Beach.

Julia was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and a wonderful friend to many. She was particularly blessed with the ability to give the gift of love, kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness and generosity to all who knew her and all of God’s creatures. Julia loved to travel, shop with friends, go to the movies, entertain with wonderful gourmet meals for family and friends and share her fabulous home grown tomatoes with everyone. Julia loved life and made every day fun. In recent years her special joy was her 6 year old grandson John.
