It is interesting that Gary Bauer likened Roe v. Wade to the Dred Scott decision (“Obama victory worries group,” Nov. 7).

Is there a difference between a slave having the right to his freedom and a woman having the right to her decision? I think not.

He obviously feels that women are the property of the pro-life movement.

At least we now will have a president who knows that an individual belongs only to themselves and is not the property of anyone or any government.

Democrats won’t bite hand that feeds them

Don’t expect any big reforms, just because Democrats control the White House and the Congress.

Half of those so-called Democrats must answer to their campaign supporters, who are the same rich people and rich corporations that control the Republicans.

The Democrats-in-name-only will not bite the hand that feeds them.

Blocking views does not help debates

I appreciate Alan Blank’s coverage of an important discussion (“Civility suffers in some debates,” Nov. 2). Suppressing opposition to any point of view does not restore civility to a debate. Your editors’ commitment to identifying “source(s) of contention” accurately should equal commitment to quality reporting.
