IRVINE — The host Anteaters, who led, 10-7, at one point, held on in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation clash Saturday.

Sophomore Matt Johnson made a career-high 18 saves to help No. 9-ranked UCI improve to 10-11, 1-5 in conference, and end a three-game losing skid.

Brandon Johnson, Max Parrague and Thomas Kruip had two goals apiece for the winners.

Pacific is 10-18, 0-6.

PALO ALTO — The UC Irvine women placed 14th and the men were 19th Saturday at the Stanford University Golf Course.

UCI senior Laura Olvera finished 26th in the 206-runner field (20 minutes, 46.37 seconds). Candice Chavez was 42nd (21:14.98) and Samantha Costantini 98th (22:06.65).

Rounding out UCI’s seven runners were Gabriela Santana in 105th place (22:12.65), Lauren Chramosta 126th (22:30.74), Kendall Bruton 139th (22:41.65) and Emily Romo 152nd (23:02.28).

Senior Nick Mosey was 68th in the 174-runner men’s field (31:11.86). Senior Rusty Whisman was 99th (32:01.56) and Rex Nelson, a freshman out of Newport Harbor, was 116th (32:32.06).

SANTA BARBARA — Senior Lauren Kellerman had 13 kills to pace the visitors to a 25-16, 19-25, 25-22, 25-17 Big West Conference win.

Alexandra Filkins had 12 kills and hit .579 for the winners (15-12, 10-4 in conference).

CYPRESS — Gustavo Ibarra scored two goals to pace the Pirates in the Orange Empire Conference road game Friday.

Mitch Williams, Daniel Lopez, Scotty Locken, Marco Ramirez and Benzad Hashemi also scored for the winners.

Brian Rippetto had six saves for OCC.
