Alleged jay-walking leads to couple’s extradition

Two Laguna Beach residents are awaiting extradition to Colorado after one of them crossed a street against a signal about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 19, leading to a police investigation that turned up warrants on burglary charges on each, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jason Kravetz said.

Clinton Michael Machamer, 23, and Andrea Noele Blatz, 23, were both arrested on outstanding felony warrants. Machamer was stopped by a police officer after allegedly crossing the street against a “red hand-no crossing” signal. The officer detained him at a market in the 1400 block of North Coast Highway, ran a records check and found a warrant from Colorado.

When Blatz, Machamer’s girlfriend, approached the officer, she gave her name and the officer also discovered a warrant for her arrest out of Colorado, also on a burglary charge.

Both were arrested and taken to Orange County Jail for extradition.

A child who was with the couple was taken to social services to wait for her grandmother to retrieve her from Florida, according to police records.

Teens arrested in water-squirting

Four juveniles who were allegedly squirting water from a water gun at people from a vehicle were arrested on suspicion of vandalism, battery and conspiracy to commit a crime at 8:40 p.m. Nov. 19, Kravetz said.

The teens, a 16-year-old boy and girl from Laguna Niguel, and a 17-year-old Dana Point boy and Laguna Niguel girl, were pulled over by police after a man reported being squirted in the face from a vehicle as he was doing push-ups at Thalia Street and South Coast Highway, Kravetz said. The water caused his eyes to redden and also damaged his iPod.

The four were arrested after a police officer observed them allegedly in the act of squirting water on pedestrians, Kravetz said.

Women accused of having stolen items

Anait Bagdasarian, 46, of Burbank and Lusya Bakhtamyan, 46, a West Hollywood resident, were detained in the 200 block of Ocean Avenue. They were accused of taking things from two women’s shops in downtown Laguna.
