Gala honors attorneys, raises research funds
Five attorneys were recently recognized by the Orange County Trial Lawyers Assn. at a gala at Renée and Henry Segerstrom Hall in Costa Mesa.
About 400 people attended the benefit, which raised $50,000 for the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation through the dinner and silent auction Nov. 21.
Former Angels infielder and Hall of Famer Rod Carew, whose teenage daughter died of cancer, gave the keynote speech.
Awards were given to Darren Aitken, Raymond Boucher, Kimberly Valentine, Richard Cohn and Robert Robinson for their roles in winning big cases on behalf of victims in personal injury, malpractice and other similar suits.
Cohn, a Newport Beach resident, has won $20 million from prosecuting people for medical malpractice.
