Adopt Marine for holidays
The Huntington Beach 3/1 Marines Foundation will offer several opportunities to assist deployed Marines and their families this holiday season.
The foundation will host an event for Marine wives and children Saturday night at Camp Pendleton. Foundation members are soliciting donations of food and beverage items, homemade desserts, gifts for the children, $25 gift cards for the wives and gifts for injured Marines. Volunteers are also sought to assist at the event in the San Onofre Community Center.
Holiday cards and letters can also be sent to the foundation for mass mailing. To adopt a Marine, e-mail the organization.
To find out which gifts children have requested, call Cindy at (714) 375-3131, or e-mail hb4marines@aol.com.
Mail or deliver gift cards for stores like Wal-Mart or Target to HB 3/1 Marines Foundation, 19744 Beach Blvd. No. 528, Huntington Beach, CA 92648.
Gifts for deployed Marines such as CDs and snacks must be received by Friday. Contact Cindy for dropoff information.
The city adopted the 3rd Battalion / 1st Marines in April 2005 by proclamation.
