Recovery home’s fate to be discussed at hearing
A public hearing on whether the drug and alcohol rehabilitation home Newport Coast Recovery will be allowed to continue its operations in Newport Beach will be held at 4 p.m. Monday.
The recovery home did not submit its application for a use permit before a city-imposed deadline earlier this year and could be required to close under a city ordinance designed to curb the spread of rehabilitation homes in the city.
Newport Coast Recovery is a 29-bed men’s drug and alcohol rehabilitation home at 1216 West Balboa Blvd.
Residents who live next to the treatment center have complained about problems with second-hand smoke and profanity from Newport Coast clients, according to city documents.
The hearing will be held in Council Chambers at Newport Beach City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd.
