Snow expected at Balearic Community Center
As anyone from Minnesota might tell you, in most of the country people try to get away from the snow.
But in Costa Mesa it’s a long-standing tradition to cart it in by the ton and dump it on the hill above Balearic Community Center for the enjoyment of local kids.
This year will be no different, as the city partners with Torelli Realty to bring 60 tons of snow in to create the Annual Holiday Snow Hill on Dec. 13.
From 9 a.m. to noon kids and adults are invited to sled down the hill on sleds provided by the city and participate in all of the winter activities that they are usually deprived of growing up in a coastal paradise. Santa Claus will also make an appearance, arriving by helicopter around 10:30 a.m.
Face painting, cookie decoration and hayrides will also be offered.
