City collecting gifts to support military families

The city of Newport Beach is collecting gifts this holiday season to support men and women serving the United States military.

Donations of new and unwrapped toys for children, DVDs for military members and gift cards and cash donations for military families will be accepted at Newport Beach City Hall through Friday.

The gift drive is part of Operation Christmas, which is sponsored by the national organization Yellow Ribbon America. Operation Christmas supports more than 300,000 California, Arizona and Nevada military members and their families. Donations will be accepted at the Newport Beach City Clerk’s Office, at Newport Beach City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd.
