THE LAST WORD:
Maybe they won’t win, but we bet at least some of the Sonora Elementary School third-graders who were part of a Grammy-nominated album would settle for meeting Kanye West at the awards ceremony.
In any event, the kids have certainly earned our admiration for their part on Trout Fishing in America’s album “Big Round World.” Trout Fishing in America’s duo of bassist Keith Grimwood and guitarist Ezra Idlet came to the Costa Mesa school last year to work on song craft with the class as part of an Orange County Performing Arts Center program. The kids sang along with the duo and helped write the tune “Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks.”
If they win, they’re sure to be stoked.
“I would be so excited that I would jump up and down,” said 9-year-old Emily Olvera. Classmate Brittany Ka remarked, “I would be crying.”
We’ll be applauding. Loudly. Good luck, kids.
