St. Nick in Newport

One-and-a-half-year- old Charli Krotts cried when her parents took her to sit on Santa’s lap at Fashion Island on Saturday.

“She’s scared of Santa — this is about the fourth or fifth time we’ve come to see him,” said father Jason Krotts, of Newport Beach.

But Charli’s sister, Olivia Krotts, is a Santa veteran, bravely sitting on the bearded man’s lap.

“I already sent my letter to Santa,” Olivia said Saturday.

The 4-year-old asked for a “Sharpie pen, a snow globe, a baby doll and a tank top with cherries on it,” she said.

A line of parents with children in tow waiting to see the man in red snaked around the block at Fashion Island on Saturday. A portion of the proceeds from photographs taken with Santa Claus at Fashion Island this year will be donated to the nonprofit organization HomeAid Orange County. The charity builds shelters for the homeless.

Seven-year-old Lauren Allen and 3-year-old Kate Allen, sisters from Laguna Beach, both asked Santa Claus for “a puppy and a dollhouse” this year, Lauren said.

Kate’s favorite part of Christmas is “getting presents,” she said.

The sisters brought their twin, stuffed teddy bears to meet Santa on Saturday.

Santa Claus will continue to visit Fashion Island for photographs every day through Christmas Eve. Photographs are available 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Christmas Eve.
