Snyder, just a sophomore, commits to UCLA

Eric Snyder got a huge decision out of the way last week.

Snyder, a sophomore centerfielder at Edison High who has already caught the eye of college programs and scouts alike, gave a verbal commitment to UCLA.

Last year as a freshman, he set school records for most hits in a single season (53) and most at-bats (106). He also tied a school record held by Jeff Kent for the best single-season batting average (.500).

“They have a great history when it comes to education and athletics,” Snyder said Monday of his decision to commit to UCLA. “Even though they haven’t won a national title in baseball, my plan when I get there is to win a national championship. My goal is to make it to Omaha.”
