MAILBAG: Another service-oriented business is leaving

Citizens of Laguna Beach, we are now losing yet another service to locals. Videoworks will join the long list of service-oriented businesses forced out by increased rental fees.

I am really bothered by nonresident landlords who care nothing about the needs of those who live in this town. Is there no way to control this?

We now have to drive out of town for the necessities of life. Most irritating is the fact that many locations of past service-oriented businesses remain vacant for years.

After watching this scenario unfold for the past 30 years I feel it is time to address this issue immediately.

Another use for my store’s club card

Three weeks ago I lost my keys “” a big bunch, expensive; you know, with that clicker that opens everything and programs your garage, post office box keys, everything... Yesterday, the mailman delivered a letter from Ralph’s grocery store saying they have my keys and if I identify myself at the store I can pick them up. Someone found my keys and because I had a Ralph’s Club tag on them very kindly dropped them off at the store. Since Ralph’s has my personal information they were able to contact me. What a wonderful service. And thank you to the generous and thoughtful person who took the time to take my keys to Ralphs. I don’t know who you are but if you read this letter there is a Christmas present waiting for you at my house.
