Laguna Beach trio fare well at meet

Three Laguna Beach runners earned high placements at the Southern California Municipal Athletic Federation cross-country meet Dec. 14 at Wilson Park in Torrance.

The runners, sponsored by the city of Laguna Beach Community Services Depaprtment, were Adam Mitchell, Johnny Mitchell and Tryler Cheves.

Adam Mitchell won the boys’ Division 2000 (year born) 1-kilometer race with a time of 3 hours 54 minutes 6 seconds. His brother Johnny finished in sixth place with a time of 4:12.2. There were nine runners in the event.

Cheves was fourth in a field of seven runners in the boys’ Division 1998 1 1/2-kilometer race with a time of 8:40.2.

The Laguna runners were mentored by long time youth cross-country coach Fred Pichay.
