Lifeguards Anthony Villalobos, middle, and off-duty volunteer Mike Sweet, right, under the direction of veteran Huntington Beach Lifeguard John Beebe, left, rescued an injured sea lion at the surf line under the Huntington Beach Pier Saturday. The adolescent with a broken flipper was caged quickly without incident after a few menacing barks toward its captors. Its next destination is the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, Beebe said. The center is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of marine mammals.
