Locals well represented on all-league teams

Costa Mesa High senior twins Cody and Dustin Serrano and senior Garrett Frazier earned first-team All-Orange Coast League recognition for leading the Mustangs to a second-place finish, their best in the Orange Coast League.

Cody, a two-meter attacker, led Costa Mesa (19-11, 3-1 in league) with 111 goals and added 84 steals and 54 assists.

Dustin, a two-meter defender, recorded a team-best 110 steals and ranked second with 100 goals. He had 60 assists.

The Serranos, who were second-team members in 2007, helped the Mustangs reach the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section Division III playoffs.

Frazier, a utility player, finished with 40 goals, 34 assists and 29 assists.

Sage Hill senior two-meter player Tucker Pettis and junior goalie Jake Blitzer received first-team honors after the Lightning placed third in league and advanced to the first round of the playoffs.

Pettis, a repeat first-team pick, led the Lightning (14-10, 2-2 in league) with 92 goals and also had 56 steals and 40 assists.

Blitzer, a second-team member in 2007, finished with 230 saves.

Costa Mesa junior goalie Jackson O’Connor, junior Joey Dinh, senior Travis Wright and junior Chingiz Bigalimov made the second team.

From Sage Hill, junior A.J. Wolfson and junior Andrew Dorne were second-team picks. Dorne is a repeat second-team selection.

Estancia senior Danny O’Neil is a second-team repeat.

O’Neil scored 41 goals, ranking him second on the Eagles, who finished 5-14 overall and 1-3 in league, good for fourth place.
