The City Council is inviting young local residents in kindergarten through fifth grade to enter an art contest to celebrate the city’s centennial year. Artwork should address the question, “What would it be like to live in Huntington Beach 100 years ago?”

All media except glued works are accepted; each project must be no larger than 8 1/2 -by-14 inches. Entries must be delivered to the child’s principal’s office by 3 p.m. Jan. 26, and must include a cover sheet with the student’s full name and address, the school’s full name and address, the student’s grade level, their teacher’s name and their room number.

Awards will be given in three categories: kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade, and fourth and fifth grade. First-place winners in each category will receive $100. Second place will receive $75, and third place will earn $50.
