Jessica Behrens

JESSICA BEHRENS

May 4, 1931 – January 10, 2009

Jessica Behrens, beloved wife of Stanley Behrens passed away in his

arms on January 10, 2009 following a stroke. Stanley and Jessica

were long time residents of Corona del Mar, sharing a love of music,

world travel and a commitment to their charitable causes. Each

brought the best out in each other.

Stanley and Jessica met while serving on the Orange County

Chamber Music board. As a couple, they were board members

of the Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine; Jessica was the

founding member for the Women’s Wellness program; they

supported the Pacific Opera; the Stanley Behrens Foundation

(which grants undergraduate scholarships to UC Irvine students),

Orange County Museum of Art, ARCS and the American

Association of University Women. The couple touched the lives of

many people.

Jessica taught for many years at Troy High School in Fullerton.

She received her PhD. in history from Claremont Men’s

College in 1975.

Jessica leaves behind a daughter, Sandy Kuenzi, two granddaughters,

Jessica and Stephanie Pierce; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Lyon and

two grandsons, Alex and Zachary. Jessica was predeceased by her

son, Tom Lyon.

A celebration of her life will be held at noon, Wednesday, January

14, 2009 at Pacific View in Corona del Mar.
