City seeks donations for its adopted Marine unit
Costa Mesa wants residents to help support the Marine unit that it officially adopted last year.
The 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment petitioned the City Council to lend its support by helping the leadership raise funds for the families of Marines fighting overseas.
The 2,000-member unit is being deployed to the Middle East this spring and the city is requesting care package items and monetary donations to support their families back home. Many of them live in the Southland.
A donation trunk has been set up in the first floor lobby of City Hall at 77 Fair Drive. For more information go to ci.costa-mesa.ca.us.
