Palmer only Breaker on All-CIF volleyball team

The CIF Southern Section office in Los Alamitos released the All-CIF Southern Section girls’ volleyball teams Tuesday, and Laguna Beach High senior Alexandra Palmer was one of 24 players to make the Division I team.

Palmer, a standout setter for the Breakers, was named to the 13-member first team. She helped the Breakers to a 24-9 season and another Orange Coast League title. Laguna Beach lost to Dos Pueblos in four games in the semifinals.

The setter finished with 1,023 assists, 188 digs, 41 aces and 59 kills.

The division’s Player of the Year honor was shared by two players, Santa Margarita junior outside hitter Kylie Hargreaves and Santa Barbara senior setter Natalie Guerra. The Coach of the Year honor was shared by Cristy Chapman-Uhrig of Santa Margarita and John Gannon of Santa Barbara.

The All-CIF teams were selected by the girls’ volleyball coaches’ selection committee and presented by the LA84 Foundation.
