More than a dozen drivers were arrested at a DUI checkpoint in Newport Beach over the weekend, police said Tuesday.

Nearly 800 cars passed through the checkpoint stationed on northbound Jamboree Road lanes at Santa Barbara Drive, right next to the city’s police station, said Sgt. Evan Sailor. Of those, 552 drivers were screened by police.

Police conducted 31 field sobriety tests and arrested 13 suspected of driving under the influence, including one juvenile. Police also issued six tickets for various offenses, which typically range from driving without a seat belt to driving with an expired license. Fourteen vehicles were towed by the end of the night, Sailor said.
