Churches pray to be as one with performance

Five Christian churches of different denominations will unite as one Sunday when they join at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach for the annual Week of Prayer of Christian Unity, organizers said.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was established in 1908 and calls for Christians to pray in communion that they be one.

Starting at 2:30 p.m. at the church, at 2046 Mar Vista Drive in Newport Beach, choral groups from Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, the Community Church Congregational United Church of Christ, Newport Harbor Lutheran Church, St. Mark Presbyterian Church and St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church will perform as a combined choir.
