Watson, Price, Woosnam, Sutton set for Toshiba

World Golf Hall of Famers Tom Watson and Nick Price along with European icon Ian Woosnam and 2004 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Hal Sutton have committed to compete in the Toshiba Classic March 2-8 at Newport Beach Country Club.

The featured quartet will try to dethrone defending champ Bernhard Langer, who won in his Toshiba Classic debut last year when he edged 2007 champion Jay Haas in a seven-hole playoff.

Watson, a 1988 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, is slated to make his fourth Toshiba Classic appearance, and his first since 2003. Price, Woosnam and Sutton are set to make their debuts at the Toshiba Classic.

Price is a former World No. 1 who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2003.

Woosnam, also a former World No. 1, was the heralded captain of Europe’s victorious 2006 Ryder Cup team.

Sutton owns 14 PGA Tour wins.

The $1.7 million Toshiba Classic will award a $255,000 winner’s check and will be televised on Golf Channel (tape delay) on March 6, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and March 7 and 8 from 3:30 to 6 p.m.
