Five-star Dirtdogs take championship at January Classic

The Dirtdogs 12 Blue team won the USSSA Championship game in the sixth inning 8-6. The win is attributed to a great team effort. On the offensive side, the Dirtdogs had great efforts with Mark Sanders batting .600, Colin Douglass .571, Diego Velez hitting a home run, and Logan Mahaffy’s five RBIs. The Dirtdogs defense was even stronger with great pitching by Will Levin, Nick Cothrel, Nate Madden, Austin Hoggatt and Anthony Arevalos. Steven Knapp made huge stretches at first which saved runners from advancing and there was an amazing catch in center field by Austin Mak that prevented a potential home run. The team could not have done it without the coaches: Jeff Knapp, Jason Reuss, Mike Hoggatt, Diego Velez, and Scott Mahafy.
