We can credit the lousy economy for at least one thing: Orange Coast College will finally get its long-planned classroom for the after-school child-care program.

The college sought a few construction bids, but it wasn’t until the economy collapsed and the fourth bid did it became affordable.

More importantly, though, the college received a $250,000 gift that really makes it all possible.

Whom can we thank for that?

Who knows? The donor asked to remain anonymous.

Nice to know someone out there is still in a position to help such a worthy cause. Even nicer to know someone that well off maintains such humility.
