Costa Mesa man killed at work

Investigators hope a scheduled autopsy today will help them find out how a Costa Mesa man and a Fountain Valley woman were killed in the mobile home office where they worked in Stanton.

For now, authorities suspect Matthew Francis Scott, 42, and Elizabeth Palmer, 49, were stabbed or shot Monday at Golden Sun Homes, at 12331 Beach Blvd. Police were called at nearly 11 a.m.

The co-owner of the mobile home business there found the bodies of his son, Scott, and his secretary, Palmer, said Jim Amormino, a spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Scott worked there in sales, and Palmer had been a secretary there for about 15 years, Amormino said.

There was no obvious sign of a struggle or a clear motive, but some personal items were taken, Amormino said.

Palmer’s 2004 white Lexus with California license plates 5FYP194 is missing, so authorities are asking the public to call police if they see it.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call (866) TIP-OCSD.
