Ten cars were reported burglarized in two Newport Beach neighborhoods, with one car also being reported stolen.

Police suspect the burglaries, which were composed mostly of smash-and-grab style burglaries in which car windows are smashed and visible items are taken, happened between 3 p.m. Monday and 6:10 a.m. Tuesday.

The burglaries occurred in the Eastbluff and Bluffs communities.

On top of smashed windows, police said one convertible top was cut open and a blue Toyota Camry was stolen. Residents reported wallets, purses, iPods, cell phones and briefcases missing.

The sudden rash of burglaries serves as a reminder for residents to practice good habits to keep their valuables protected, police said.

Make sure all your doors and windows are secured, even if you’re gone for only a few minutes. Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle, and if you must, conceal them before arriving at your destination. When parking outside your garage, take your garage-door opener with you. Always park in a well-lit area and activate your alarm.
