Vanguard 18, La Sierra 6

COSTA MESA — Shortstop Sarah Howe went two for three with two home runs and four RBIs for the Lions in the nonconference game Thursday.

Amanda Plum also had four RBIs, and homered in Vanguard’s 13-run third inning. Brittany Parlopino tripled and had an RBI for the Lions (2-1).

Patricia Olvera earned the win, pitching three innings, allowing no hits while striking out four.

Vanguard plays host to Chapman Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

SAN LUIS OBISPO — Kim Barnes scored a career-high 17 points for the Anteaters in their Big West Conference game Thursday night.

Rebecca Maessen added 13 points and Kelly Cochran scored 10 points for UCI (5-17, 2-7 in conference).

The Mustangs dominated the glass, out-rebounding UCI, 40-29.

Kristina Santiago came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points, scoring 15 in the second half for Cal Poly (14-7, 6-3).

The Anteaters play at UC Santa Barbara Saturday at 2 p.m.
