NHB club soccer tryout is Sunday

North Huntington Beach Futbol Club will hold tryouts for the 2009-10 soccer season Sunday.

All tryouts will be held at Hope View Elementary School, 17622 Flintstone Lane, Huntington Beach.

NHB offers free soccer training year round to players ages 6 to 10 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. every Friday throughout the season at Lake View School, 17451 Zeider Lane, Huntington Beach.

Oilers weightlifting club debuts Tuesday

The Huntington Beach High weightlifting club will hold its first session Tuesday

The class will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday of each week through June 9 at “The Refinery” on campus. The first two classes, Tuesday and Feb. 12, are free. Interested seventh- and eighth-grade students are encouraged to attend on those two days. Following the two free sessions, the cost for the class per person is $50 per month.

The club has been designed to help develop any seventh- or eighth-grade athlete who wants to participate in high school athletics.

Seahawks baseball fundraiser is Feb. 21

The Ocean View High baseball boosters will hold their fourth annual Texas Hold’em fundraiser Feb. 21.

The event begins at 5 p.m. and is at the Centerfield Sports Bar & Grill, 17296 Beach Blvd., Huntington Beach.

The event features professional dealers, chips, tables and pit-bosses where more than $1,000 in prizes and giveaways will take place.

First-time players will be able to learn the game during a free tutorial prior to the start of the event. Check-in starts at 4 p.m., with the first games to start at 5 p.m.

The cost to enter the fundraiser is $60.
