Sunset League finals

LOS ALAMITOS — Newport Harbor High senior heavyweight Cameron Rausch won his second straight Sunset League championship, pulling out a dramatic 5-4 victory in triple overtime against Fountain Valley’s Barry Gee on Saturday. Rausch (19-2) is one of five Sailors qualifying out of the league finals to the CIF Southern Section Inland Division individual tournament at Los Osos High in Rancho Cucamonga on Feb. 20-21.

Joining Rausch is 160-pound senior Eric Nordstrom (second place), 130-pound sophomore Ryan Cerrato (third), 152-pound junior Ryan Dickey (third) and 171-pound junior John Leyva (third). Sophomore Bradley Beaudette (fourth) is an alternate at 189 pounds.

“This is the most CIF qualifiers I’ve had in my 11 years,” Newport Harbor Coach Dominic Bulone said. “Cameron’s title match had the whole gym going crazy because it went to the ultimate tiebreaker.”

Pacific Coast League finals

LAGUNA HILLS — Corona del Mar’s Tucker Armstrong won the 130-pound Pacific Coast League championship on Saturday, qualifying for the CIF Coastal Division individual tournament.
