Eagles get No. 4 seed

The Estancia High boys’ soccer team received the No. 4 seed in the CIF Southern Section Division IV playoffs that begin Friday.

Coach Gannon Burks’ Eagles (13-1-7), who claimed the Orange Coast League championship, will play host to the winner of Wednesday’s wild-card game between La Mirada and Santa Paula.

Corona del Mar (6-7-4) has a first-round Division IV road game against Bishop Montgomery.

Sage Hill (9-2-5), runner-up in the Academy League, opens Division VII play Friday at home against San Fernando Valley Academy.

And Newport Harbor (11-6-4), which captured third place in the Sunset League to collect an automatic berth in Division I, ventures to Manhattan Beach to face Mira Costa in Friday’s first round.

All matches are scheduled for 3 p.m.

Channel Islands is the No. 1 seed in Division IV. Sierra Vista is seeded No. 2 and Norwalk No. 3.

The second round in all divisions is scheduled for Feb. 25, with the quarterfinals Feb. 27 and the semifinals March 3.

Should Estancia advance past the first round, it would meet either Inglewood or Wilson of Hacienda Heights.

A Sage Hill victory would produce a second-round matchup against either Bloomington Christian or the California Academy of Math and Science.

Corona del Mar would meet Norwalk or wild-card combatants Santa Monica and Gladstone.

And Newport Harbor, should it produce a first-round victory, would face either Mater Dei or Crespi in the second round.
