“In 2001, my son Ryan fell three stories through a skylight on the roof of his apartment complex onto a concrete floor. He sustained devastating injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, and was not expected to live. But largely due to the prayers of many and the excellent treatment he received at UCLA Medical Center and Mission Hospital, he survived,” said Corbin. “There is no question that Ryan would not be where he is today, if not for the high quality care provided at Mission Hospital. So, when I received the call asking if I would be interested in becoming a board member of the Mission Hospital Foundation, my answer was ‘absolutely yes.’”

Ryan’s accident also inspired Corbin and other family members to found Ryan’s Reach, a supporting organization committed to aiding the victims and families of traumatic brain injury to more effectively address the financial, emotional, physical and spiritual needs associated with this devastating event. Ryan’s Reach works closely with High Hopes Neurological Recovery Group Inc., a public charity based in Tustin, Calif. To learn more about Ryan’s Reach, please visit www.ryansreach.com.
