IRVINE — Freshman opposite Carson Clark had 21 kills and sophomore outside hitter Jordan DuFault added 17 to lead the host Anteaters to a 30-27, 23-30, 33-31, 33-31 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation triumph Friday at the Bren Events Center.

Clark hit .581 to help No. 2-ranked UCI improve to 14-3, 10-2 in conference.

Long Beach State fell to 8-6, 7-4.

IRVINE — The Anteates swept five of six singles matches in the nonconference home match Friday.

Stephanie Hammel, Brooke Bartlett, Clare Fermin, Rebecca Kwan and Heidi Kaloi all defeated singles rivals to help the Anteaters improve to 8-2.

Sacramento State (7-1) won two of three doubles sets to take the doubles point.

COSTA MESA — Jake Melone had 11 kills to pace the Pirates in the Pacific Coast Conference-opening 30-26, 30-23, 30-22 victory Friday at OCC.

Mike Stewart had seven kills and Doug Astor had 39 assists for the Pirates (5-2, 1-0 in conference).

Grant Keene and Alex Reis had five digs apiece for the winners.

OCC plays host to Irvine Valley in a rematch of last year’s state championship match, Wednesday at 6 p.m.

ANTELOPE VALLEY — Sophomore Simone Ibbotson completed her OCC career by scoring 12 points in the second round of the Southern California Regional playoffs Friday night.

OCC, the No. 14 seed, finished 21-11.

Antelope Valley, the No. 3 seed which led 34-24 at halftime, advances with a 27-9 record.
