HOUSTON — The Anteaters posted its season-high scoring output to claim the second game of the three-game Houston College Classic Saturday at Minute Maid Park.

Freshman third baseman DJ Crumlich went three four with his first collegiate home run and a double and drove in two for UCI (4-2).

Junior Chrsitian Bergman worked into the sixth to earn his second win.

Junior Dillon Bell homered for UCI, which received three runs batted in from junior catcher Francis Larson.

Houston fell to 2-5.

COSTA MESA — The host Pirates committed four errors and managed just six hits in the Orange Empire Conference game Saturday at OCC.

Freshman center fielder Mykal Stokes went two for four with a run batted in and freshman Scott Stidham doubled in a run for the Pirates (9-7, 0-2 in conference).

Saddleback, which lashed 17 hits, including six doubles, improved to 12-7, 2-0.

Gregory, Molly Phohl and Jaclyn Blied grabbed six rebounds each to help the Lions claim post a 41-25 edge.

SAN DIEGO — Cortney Collyer scored the game-winner for the Anteaters with 31 seconds left in the second overtime period to lead to the nonconference upset Saturday.

Collyer, Caitlin Haskell and Gianna Rossi scored three goals each for No. 10-ranked UCI (10-4) against the No. 5-ranked Aztecs.

All-UC Meet

IRVINE — UC Irvine junior Lauren Collins broke her own school record in winning the high jump Saturday at Anteater Stadium.

Collins, who was a redshirt last year, won the event with a 6-foot clearance, breaking her previous school record of 5-11 1/4 set in 2007. She also won the long jump Saturday with a mark of 19-0, tying Kristi Kaufmann (1991) for No. 4 in school history.

SWIMMING AND DIVING

Big West Championships

LONG BEACH — The UC Irvine men’s team finished third and the women were fifth after the final day of the conference finals Saturday at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.

Senior Randall Tom won the 200-yard butterfly with a school Big West Conference-record time of 1 minute, 43.63 seconds. Sophomore diver Miles Smith completed the diving sweep as he won the one-meter competition with a score of 323.45.

On the women’s side, junior diver Melanie Grosvenor completed the women’s diving sweep as she won the three-meter title with a 277.60 points.
