Laguna Beach’s Palmer earns academic honor

Laguna Beach senior setter Alexandra Palmer has been named a second-team Academic All-American by prepvolleyball.com.

Palmer, who has a 4.5 grade-point average, was a first-team All-CIF Southern Division I selection in girls’ volleyball this past fall.

She helped the Breakers to a 24-9 record, the Orange Coast League title and a deep run to the CIF semifinals.

Palmer, the co-Orange Coast League Most Valuable Player with fellow Breakers senior Piper Obradovich, finished with 1,023 assists, 188 digs, 41 aces and 59 kills.

She will continue her volleyball career at Santa Clara University.
