COSTA MESA — Kira Mitani went two for four with a double and two RBIs for the Mustangs in the nonleague game that was called after six innings Tuesday.

Mitani also struck out six, walked one, allowed three hits and one run in six innings. Alex Krohnfeldt went two for four with two doubles, while Sami Feinstein was three for four with two doubles and three RBIs for Costa Mesa (2-2).

Leslee Kaczmarek had a two-run home run, Lindsey Sosolik tripled and Kelsey Kaczmarek doubled for the Sea Kings.

Mesa plays host to Sage Hill today at 3:15 p.m. in a Costa Mesa Tournament pool-play game.

CdM plays host to Newport Harbor today at 3:15 p.m.

NEWPORT COAST — Allen Brown drew a walk with the bases loaded that brought in Mo Kreitenberg for the Lightning in an Academy League opener Tuesday.

Christopher Griffin went two for four with two RBIs and Kreitenberg had two doubles for Sage Hill (2-0). A.J. Wolfson and Sean Vogel pitched well, limiting the Tartans to four hits.

PALOS VERDES — Bayle Smith had 29 kills and 22 digs in the Lightning’s five-game nonleague loss Tuesday.

Chadwick won, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 17-15.

Jesse Xiao had 41 assists and Alex Lowe had five kills and four blocks for Sage Hill (3-3), which plays at Tesoro today.

LAGUNA BEACH — Cody Caldwell had 11 kills, six digs and one block to help the Sailors win their season opener, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, Monday.

JB Green had nine kills, nine digs and three blocks. Connor Curry added eight digs and two aces, Richard de St. Jean 10 kills and two blocks and Hamilton Day eight kills and seven blocks

Darren Leggett contributed 22 assists and five digs and Kyle Lawrence had 24 assists for Newport Harbor (1-0).

ALISO VIEJO — Senior Camden Nicholson shot a two-under-par 33 and was the individual medalist in the Sea Kings’ nonleague match at Aliso Viejo Country Club Tuesday.

Coach Mike Starkweather said the team’s overall score, which was one-over par, was the best high school team score at Aliso Viejo Country Club.

Mike Moorhead and Jono Keedy each finished at 35. John Davenport had a 36, followed by Josh Starnes at 37.

CdM (2-0) plays Edison today at SeaCliff Country Club at 2:30 p.m.

NEWPORT BEACH — Travis Russell shot one-over-par 37 for the Sailors in the nonleague match at Big Canyon Country Club Tuesday.

Russell finished one shot behind medalist Alex Marry of San Clemente.

Kawika Morse (38), Mychael Clark (41), Zach Eddy (41) and Ericson Klein (42) also helped the Sailors remain undefeated at 5-0.

Newport Harbor will play against Dana Hills and Santa Ana today at Santa Ana Country Club.

COSTA MESA — Senior Ryan Knapp recorded a two-under-par 33 and earned medalist honors for the Eagles in a nonleague match at Costa Mesa Golf Course Tuesday.

Jake Knapp shot a 35, followed by Jordan Young (38), Brad Rietler (39) and Ryan Burns (39).

Estancia (2-2) opens Orange Coast League play against Orange at El Prado Golf Course in Chino on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.

SANTEE — Freshman Ahmed El Tamami shot the low for the Lightning at seven-over-par 43 at Carlton Oaks Country Club Tuesday.

Senior Mac Mace and sophomore Kam Fuji both shot 44 for Sage Hill (1-2).

Sage Hill plays against Fairmont Prep Thursday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course.

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — Senior Josh Tuz swept No. 3 singles play in the Sailors’ season opener Tuesday.

LAGUNA BEACH — Ryan Peyton and Shane Korber both swept at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, for the Sea Kings in the nonleague match Tuesday.

CdM improved to 1-2 and will play host to Estancia today.

Sage Hill 13, Los Alamitos 5

Sage Hill School boys’ tennis coach A.G. Longoria was especially proud of his team Tuesday. The Lightning beat Los Alamitos, 13-5.

Last season, Sage won eight in doubles and did not win in singles against Los Al. The Lightning swept all nine singles sets and took four in doubles this time around.

Alex Koeberle, Troy Astorino and Andrew Kurzweil each swept in singles, while Andrew Yun and Sean Batten won two of three sets in doubles. The doubles teams of Greg Berchtold-Alex Manolakas and David Fayngor-Kevin Marshack each took one.

What’s more impressive about the win was that the Lightning played without their No. 1 singles player, Kevin Wang, who is sidelined with a wrist injury.

Sage Hill improved to 3-2.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

COSTA MESA — Frankie Gonzalez and Conner Graham won two events each and were a part of the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay in a nonleague meet Tuesday.

Frankie Gonzalez won the 200 free in 2 minutes, 16.55 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:08.31). Conner Graham won the 50 free (25.41) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.34). Wes Barloon won the 100 butterfly in 1:06.19 seconds and was part of a winning relay for the Eagles (1-1). Matthew Thome was also on the winning relay.
