Art exhibition features aspects of the city

The Huntington Beach Art Center, 538 Main St., presents a new exhibition, “City Reconsider,” by artists LAC, Luisa Cohrs, Mary Dessert, Anna Friesen, Trang Le and Robin Repp from Saturday to April 12.

A free opening reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

The contemporary exhibition is an experiment utilizing the previous “Ebb & Flow” exhibition, which presented a timeline of the city’s 100 years of existence.

The local artists reconsidered developmental aspects of the city such as transportation, planning of public and private spaces, and economic resource distribution.

For approximately two months the artists have met as a group with the curator and discussed numerous ideas that have resulted in projects originating in solar energy, planning, economic development, protest and commerce.

Gallery admission is free; for more information, call (714) 374-1650 or visit surfcity-hb.org.
