UC Irvine 5, Tulane 4

IRVINE — Junior Casey Stevenson’s two-out, bloop single drove in the winning run Sunday to give host UCI the rubber game of the three-game nonconference series.

No. 10-ranked UCI (10-5) lost a 3-0 lead when Tulane (11-7) scored four in the eighth. But Francis Larson’s RBI single tied it in the ninth and Stevenson produced his second walk-off single of the season.

Junior Eric Pettis earned the win, though after blowing the save opportunity.

Sophomore Crosby Slaught pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings for UCI.

Larson, Cory Olson, who homered, Jordan Leyland and Stevenson all had two hits apiece for UCI, which opens a three-game home series with Nevada Friday at 6 p.m.
