Suspect arrested in deadly assault

A man told police his 28-year-old wife put a knife to his neck after an argument in front of their 10-year-old daughter, then left in a Volvo sedan in the 9600 block of Kensington Drive at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, leaving the knife behind. Police took CSI photos and then arrested the woman on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and infliction of injury on a spouse.

Edinger Avenue: A warehouse store employee was concerned about public health due to a customer walking around with a parrot on his shoulder in the 6800 block at 1:39 p.m. Sunday.

Goldenwest Street: Someone told police a vandal keyed their vehicle after a parking space argument in the 15700 block at 2:01 p.m. Sunday.

Beach Boulevard: A caller exited a store and found all four of their tires had been slashed in the 16600 block at 5:27 p.m. Sunday.

Newland Street at Warner Avenue: Multiple callers reported that a transformer exploded and ignited a tree on fire beginning at 6:01 p.m. Sunday.

Slater Avenue at Beach Boulevard: Police apprehended the driver of a truck who struck a van and left at 12:41 a.m. Sunday.

Forelle Drive: Residents found evidence that a BB gun had shot through their dining room window in the 8100 block at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Talbert Avenue: A man with an open container was seen dancing in a cemetery and bothering cemetery visitors in the 8300 block at 1:31 p.m. Sunday.

Dog Beach: Someone reported two dogs had been left in a vehicle with the windows rolled up for 40 minutes at 2:40 p.m. Sunday.

Shaffer Circle: A 12-year-old called to say their 14-year-old brother wouldn’t stop hitting them in the 7800 block at 5:14 p.m. Their mother intervened and stopped the fight before officers arrived.

Skyline Lane at Sunbreeze Drive: An off-duty officer detained a subject for a potential drug deal after a vehicle tried to run the subject over at 6:28 p.m. Sunday. The subject had priors for drug possession, and was arrested.

Florida Street: Someone complained about a party with loud bass music and about a dozen people sitting on a porch drinking in the 2100 block at 12:55 a.m.; the party turned out to be for a child’s first birthday.

Main Street: A caller reported their adult daughter was missing in the 2000 block at 1:10 a.m. Sunday.

Alabama Street: Several people were seen fighting in the 1500 block at 2:18 a.m. Sunday.

Pacific Coast Highway at 19th Street: Three loud shots were heard at 2:19 a.m. Sunday. The sounds turned out to be large fireworks from a party.

Applecross Lane: A woman fought with her boyfriend, who put his fist through a door and disturbed the peace, in the 1400 block at 3:18 a.m. Sunday.

Delaware Street: A caller said they had video of someone opening their unlocked Jaguar car door overnight and stealing sunglasses from it in the 1400 block at 12:08 p.m. Sunday.

Seventh Street: A man who had thrown up and passed out behind the wheel of his SUV was found in an FBI terrorist database in the 200 block at 3:28 p.m. Sunday.

B Street: A caller reported that their neighbors were letting their 12-year-old drive a Chevy Blazer in the street in the 17000 block at 6:23 p.m. Sunday; the caller said this happened frequently. Police cited the parent for allowing an unlicensed minor to drive.

Big Bend Lane: A caller said someone threw eggs at her truck and left a bag of nails and dog feces under their tire the previous day in the 20100 block at 6:58 a.m. Sunday.

Amberwick Lane: A resident found their landscaping had been torn up, white powder was spread around, and the windshield wipers were broken off their car in the 21100 block at 9:48 a.m. Sunday.

Malloy Drive: A child who had walked away from a home was found at a gas station following an extensive police search from the 8100 block beginning at 5:02 p.m. Sunday.

Bickley Drive: Two young children were seen riding gas-powered scooters in the 9500 block at 5:28 p.m. Sunday; their father was advised by police that they were too young to ride them. The father asked if he could ride one with one of the children on the back; he was advised that he needed a motorcycle endorsement to use them.

Ellis Avenue: A domestic dispute was reported in the 9400 block at 3:37 p.m. Sunday.

Brookhurst Street: A domestic dispute broke out in a restaurant in the 18200 block at 4:52 p.m. Sunday.

La Casita Avenue: Evidence of auto tampering was reported in the 8500 block at 6:10 p.m. Sunday.

Santa Rita Street: A residential burglary was reported in the 17000 block at 8:55 a.m. Sunday.

Santa Rita Street: A stolen vehicle was reported from the 17000 block at 11:33 a.m. Sunday.

Brookhurst Street: Shots were heard from a karaoke studio in the 18900 block at 9:37 p.m. Sunday.

El Plano Avenue: Someone disturbed the peace in the 10800 block at 6:15 p.m. Sunday.

San Clemente Street: Vandalism was reported in the 17800 block at 9:35 a.m. Sunday.

Daisy Avenue: Someone reported being threatened in the 16700 block at 9:50 p.m. Sunday.

Peony Circle: Police were called to keep the peace in the 10700 block at 6:21 p.m. Sunday.
