Local artists invited to design poster for musical

The creators of a new musical that will be staged for the first time at the Samueli Theater in Costa Mesa later this month are reaching out to the community to design the poster that will accompany the production.

The Orange County Performing Arts Center is holding a contest for local artists and graphic designers, asking them to submit posters for “The Unauthorized Autobiography of Samantha Brown,” a teenage drama.

Creators Kait Kerrigan and Brian Lowdermilk will judge the entries and the winner’s poster will be displayed at all 16 performances of the show in late April and early May. The winner will also get a chance to display a handful of other art pieces in the theater’s lobby and six complimentary tickets to the musical. All entries must be received by April 15. The contest is open to anyone 16 and older.
