CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Danny Moskovits hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to lift the Corona del Mar High baseball team to a 5-4 Pacific Coast League win over visiting University Tuesday.

Moskovits went two for five with three RBIs and a double. With one out, he scored in John Doering, who reached on a single when the Sea Kings (5-5, 3-1 in league) trailed, 4-3.

Brian Ford also hit a home run, a two-run shot that came in the fourth.

CdM plays at San Juan Hills Friday at 3:15 p.m.

LAGUNA HILLS — Weston Nielsen had six kills for the Sea Kings in their 25-9, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17 Pacific Coast League-opening win Tuesday.

Dylan Davis, Brian Stanek and Grant Templeton had five kills each, while Mike Ensign had five digs and five assists for CdM (12-5, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 8 in CIF Southern Section Division I. Connor Bannan added 17 assists for the Sea Kings, who play host to Irvine Friday at 5:15 p.m.

Sage Hill def. Oxford Academy

NEWPORT COAST — Bayle Smith had 16 kills and seven aces to help lead the Lightning to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-13 Academy League-opening win Tuesday.

Harlan Webster added seven kills and six digs, while Jesse Xiao had 24 assists for Sage Hill (7-9, 1-0 in league), ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division V.

The Lightning play host to Brethren Christian today at 5 p.m.

Newport Harbor def. Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS — The Sailors opened Sunset League play with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 triumph behind 13 kills apiece from senior JB Green and sophomore Cody Caldwell.

Green added five digs and two blocks in what Coach Dan Glenn called his best match of the season.

Caldwell added six digs and three blocks. Newport improved to 12-6, 1-0 in league.

Costa Mesa def. Calvary Chapel

COSTA MESA — Jeff Dye had 16 kills and 14 digs for the Mustangs in their, 25-20, 25-20, 25-27, 25-19 Orange Coast League win Tuesday.

Garrett Frazier added 12 kills and 14 digs, while Ryan Thompson (11 kills), Ben Lefebvre (45 assists) and Andy Feldman (31 digs) also contributed for Costa Mesa (9-5, 3-0 in league).

IRVINE — Senior Camden Nicholson shot one-under-par 35 to earn medalist honors and pace the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match Tuesday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club.

Michael Moorhead (36), Brian Mull (37) and Josh Starns (39) also sparkled for CdM (9-1, 3-0 in league).

NEWPORT BEACH — Kawika Morse and Zach Eddy both shot one-over-par 37 to pace the Sailors in the Sunset League match Tuesday at Big Canyon Country Club.

Travis Russell (38) and Marcus Kiel (39) also broke 40 for the winners (8-3-1, 1-1 in league).

COSTA MESA — Senior Ryan Knapp shot two-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors and lead the Eagles in the Orange Coast League match at Costa Mesa Golf & Country Club Tuesday.

Storm Hagen (35) and Jake Knapp (37) also stood out for the Eagles (7-3, 4-0 in league).

IRVINE — Senior medalist Mac Mace shot three-over-par 39 to lead the Lightning in the Academy League match Tuesday at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Club.

Steve Choi and James Chai shot 42 for Sage (7-2, 3-0 in league).

IRVINE — Junior Matt Fisher and senior Parker Rhodes won two out of three doubles sets for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League match Tuesday.

Rhodes 27-set undefeated streak for the season was snapped. CdM, ranked No. 9 in CIF Division I, dropped to 7-3, 2-1 in league after the loss to top-ranked Uni.

NEWPORT BEACH — Daron Arnold and Cameron Chase swept at No. 1 doubles, as did No. 2 doubles team Jason Cernius and Troy Arnold to pace the Sailors in the Sunset League home match Tuesday.

Newport Harbor improved to 5-3, 2-0 in league.

NEWPORT BEACH — The Lightning dominated in doubles, winning 24 out of 26 games in the Academy League match at the Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club Tuesday.

In singles, Alex Koeberle, Troy Astorino, and Kevin Wang swept for Sage Hill (9-4, 2-0 in league), ranked No. 5 in CIF Division IV.

LAGUNA BEACH — Troy McClanahan and Ryan Cherney both went one for two and drew a walk each for the Eagles in the Orange Coast League game Tuesday.

Senior pitcher Bret Barrett threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout for the Breakers. Estancia fell to 3-7, 1-2 in league.

Edison, ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division I, broke it open with a seven-run fifth.
