Physician’s license revoked after several accusations

The state medical board has revoked the license of Fountain Valley physician Roy Chi Wing Lung.

The board filed a formal accusation and requested an interim suspension of his license last winter, when Lung was forbidden from practicing medicine or being present anywhere medicine is practiced. The filing came after two questionable deaths came to the attention of the board.

The board also discovered he was convicted in 2004 of two counts of burglary, one count of grand theft and one count of possession of stolen property from Long Beach Memorial Hospital, the board said Wednesday.

It was amended with additional accusations three times over the past year, as new situations came to light.

Lung was arrested at Orange Coast Memorial Hospital on Jan. 11, 2008, on suspicion of impersonating a doctor with privileges and stealing sutures; after that, it was found he had violated his interim suspension at least a dozen times, officials said.

Lung submitted a renewal application for his Drug Enforcement Agency license in April 2008 in which he lied about having his license suspended, the board said.

The license was revoked Feb. 28. That became official March 30.

“The mission of the Medical Board is public protection, and this action reflects the board’s ongoing commitment to that mission,” its Executive Director Barb Johnston said in a news release.
