In touch with the Earth

The Bolsa Chica Wetlands will celebrate Earth Day with an all-ages family festival in the South Lot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the North Lot from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, to kick off the city’s environmental month in commemoration of its Centennial Year.

Each attendee will be given a passport to the Bolsa Chica Wetlands, which will allow them to go to several booths to learn hands-on about aspects of the wetlands, from the water to its reptiles, raptors, plants and marine animals.

Participants will touch live animals like sharks and sea stars, learn about reptiles at close proximity, count migrating birds; discover native plants, make mud balls, tour the wetlands, play in a jump tent, and enjoy hot dogs and snow cones.

Parking will be available at the beach and at a lot just northeast of the North Lot at Warner Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway.

Shuttle buses will be available from the beach parking lots.
