4 Newport Beach homes burglarized in one week

A string of four residential burglaries since last week has police urging residents to make sure their homes are secure when they leave.

Between March 24 and March 30, homes in Newport Beach were ransacked during daylight hours. In three of the four cases, the burglar broke a window or a windowed door to open the lock from the outside. In one instance, in the 2000 block of Commodore Road, the victim left their home open, possibly for an open house, and it was burglarized.

Victims lost jewels and in one case, a vehicle key.

The three other burglaries were in the 2200 block of Santiago Drive, 1900 block of Highland Drive and 1100 block of Kings Road, respectively.
