CLAREMONT — The UC Irvine track and field teams turned in several strong performances Saturday.

Natasha Wardley finished second in the long jump with a season-best mark of 18 feet, 4 1/2 inches and Madeline Leduc was fourth at 18-1 1/2 , also her best in 2009.

Leduc finished third in the triple jump at 38-3 1/4 , while Samantha Costantini finished fourth in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 13.54 seconds, as both marks were season bests.

For the Anteater men, Jimmy Kearney finished third in the hammer throw with a career-best mark of 177-0 that moves him to No. 6 on UCI’s all-time list. Kearney placed sixth in the discus throw at 149-1.

Nicholas Roberts was fourth in the javelin throw with a season-best mark of 186-1 and Scott Bogdanoff was fourth in the triple jump at 45-0 1/2 .

COSTA MESA — Kasey Klarenbach went four for seven with a run batted in for the Lions, who almost split the Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday before losing Game 2 in extra innings, the ninth.

Angela St. Croix went two for five for Vanguard (19-20, 4-12 in conference).
