‘Eaters start series with Dirtbags today at UCI
The UC Irvine baseball team, ranked No. 5 by Baseball America, will play host to Long Beach State in a Big West Conference three-game series that begins today at 6 p.m. at Anteater Ballpark.
A battle of lefties ensues tonight, as Daniel Bibona (5-1, 2.30 ERA) starts for UCI (19-8, 5-1 in conference) against Adam Wilk (4-1, 3.30 ERA). The Dirtbags (14-14) also have one loss in conference, at 2-1. The Anteaters are atop the Big West standings
Bibona, who has the Big West’s lowest ERA and leads the ’Eaters in strikeouts with 52, was named Big West Pitcher of the Week after holding then-top-ranked Cal State Fullerton through eight innings.
Friday’s game also starts at 6 p.m., while the finale is Saturday at 1 p.m. The games will be broadcast on radio on KUCI 88.9 FM.
