Tiny soccer players battled against four-footed rivals Wednesday on the lawn of the Main Street branch library, when Soccer Collies Ms. Z and Bek played a game with local kids.

The dogs jumped, dribbled, caught and passed the ball in front of a group of kids and their parents.

The border collies made their Spring Break appearance courtesy of Mark Lukas’s Soccer Collies, a company formed in memory of his son Zak Lukas, who died in a tragic jet-skiing accident in the Gulf of Mexico when he was 16.

The “team” has performed for thousands at county fairs, as well as at birthday parties.

Ms. Z was named after Zak; Bek was named for soccer icon David Beckham. Visit soccercollies.com.
