Newport Aquatic Center varsity eight still winning

The Newport Aquatic Center men’s varsity eight won the national championship last year and has continued its winning ways in 2009.

The NAC eight recently won the San Diego Crew Classic, making it a clean sweep of three prestigious regattas in as many weeks. NAC won the Southern California Cup March 21, then captured the title at the PAC-10 Challenge March 28 and won in San Diego April 4.

The NAC crew, which is undefeated, captured the William Robinson Memorial Cup in San Diego, racing aginst 15 other junior crews from as far away as Oklahoma.

The NAC varsity eight includes: Alex Burjakowsky, Ross Bell, AJ Brooks, Kevin Cox, Eric Chebil, Ben Gordon, JP Hogan, Garrett Rinden and coxswain Michael Delahanty.
