Former Harbor standout has a memorable week
Dartmouth senior third baseman Ashley Gleason, a former Newport Harbor High standout, recently earned Ivy League Player of the Week in softball.
Gleason, a four-time Daily Pilot Dream Team selection, helped Dartmouth sweep Princeton and then split with Cornell, April 4 and April 5.
In the doubleheader against Princeton, Gleason hit a grand slam off Tigers’ pitcher Michelle Tolfa, a former Corona del Mar standout.
Gleason, a team captain, hit .471 in the four games, recording eight hits, including a double and two home runs, while knocking in 10 RBIs.
In the first game against Cornell, her walk-off home run in the bottom of the 10th inning gave Dartmouth the victory. It was the first time Dartmouth defeated Cornell since 2006.
